I'm back!!

Have just rediscovered this blog after spending too many hours playing on my computer (well, it's freezing outside and the dog's asleep!)

Much time has passed - I'm now 61 and retired (my wife is still working 2 days a week in London) but it's still usually me who provides the daily sustenance so it seems appropriate to resurrect the blog.

My new loves are home made curries - my wife will not let me have a takeaway any more!

I've toyed with copying other people's recipes and putting them here but, I think at present, I will simply quote the source (eg Rick Stein or Madhur Jaffrey) and, when so minded, accompany the recipe/recommendation with my photo of my dish (so you can see what a domestic cook makes it like!)

I would add that curries are not all I will be blogging about - there's only so many you can eat in a week, at least in Kent!!

Now it's my turn!

Having spent many a happy hour reading a number of food blogs - a particular big up to "eat the right stuff" - I felt emboldened to try myself.

I'm not as good as many but my heart is in the right place and, let's face it, if you wake up in the morning planning your breakfast, you have an itch that needs scratching!

So, a bit of background to begin with.

I am a 55 year old living in Tonbridge, Kent, UK (hoping for an international audience?!) who has, over the last 5 or so years, become the main cook and bottle washer in the house. I am married, and have been for nearly 31 years, I have 2 children, both married, and 3 (soon to be 4) grandchildren. My wife has a senior role in government whilst I am an administrator for our local church. I work nearby, she works long, hard and, sometimes, late in London. Hence me doing the cooking!

Before I get too excited, I have to admit to a tendency to straightforward, occasionally "fancy" style of cooking - we're talking daily feed here. However, I carry the continual hope that I will become more skilled and more imaginative.

I hope I am able to develop and that I remember to chart my progress through the blog.

There! I've started!!

More soon
